CuraWest has been the best and most productive experience I’ve ever had. The staff is by far the most compassionate I’ve experienced, the facility is clean and well-kept, the therapists are effective and their medication management has allowed me to sleep soundly for the first time in over 20 years.

While the program is modeled in terms of 12 step treatment, CuraWest also employs more modern modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to address trauma and mental health as primary causes of behavioral health struggles.

CuraWest successfully addressed insomnia that I’ve fought for 20+ years, and spent time with me uncovering other ways in which I’ve used alcohol and other maladaptive behaviors to cope and self-medicate. I’ve had complex PTSD for years and not only were they sensitive and knowledgeable about trauma informed care, they actually helped me overcome some of the anxiety and more complicated symptoms and behaviors associated with both acute and post-acute trauma.

They helped me see myself as more than my regrets and set-backs and made the idea of recovery a real possibility. They made me believe in myself and saw hope where I saw hopelessness.

Also, the rooms are nice, the food is good, and to reiterate once more, the staff is bar-none the most dedicated, compassionate, professional, and most importantly for me, available: treatment is not easy and recovery isn’t always pretty or even appealing, but it can be when their are kind and friendly faces that will make time to speak one on one even while balancing a highly stressful work environment.

CuraWest met me where I was at: they didn’t shame me or talk down to me, or use the disease models of Substance Use Disorder and mental health to reinforce an identity of being terminally broken. Rather, they showed and demonstrated a way to live life sober that actually looked fun. I left with the feeling that I can recover, and I’ll be forever grateful.
